The Bureau of Land Management Cody Field Office’s action plan concerning population management of the McCullough Peaks Wild Horse Herd Management Area (HMA) is currently underway, with fertility control darting ongoing in the field and bait trap gathers scheduled to begin in mid-November.
The decision, outlined in an environmental assessment released Sept. 20, approved measures to reestablish the Appropriate Management Level (AML) for the McCullough Peaks herd through bait trap gathers, selective removals and fertility control.

Gillette woman rescued near Shell Falls

For the second time this fall, Big Horn County Search & Rescue team member were summoned on Sunday afternoon to rescue an amateur
photographer who slipped while taking photos of
Shell Falls and fell approximately 100 feet.

Big Horn County Fire Protection District #4 applied for and received a grant for $104,617.57 to purchase a LifePak 15 with accessories and PowerLOAD/PowerPRO XT Cot.
The grant came from the Hospitals and Healthcare Systems Preparedness and Infrastructure Program. It is part of the COVID-19 Health Disparity Grant Program.
Christine Bullinger said that even with the grant, the ambulance would not be able to get the equipment if it weren’t for Big Horn REA and TCT.

Police officer returns to duty

CODY (WNE) — Cody Police Officer Blake Stinson has returned to duty after an investigation into a complaint filed against him in May, according to a press release from the City of Cody.
The complaint was regarding Stinson and another officer attempting to arrest a 17-year-old, after he  allegedly failed to yield to a pedestrian at an intersection. Edited body camera footage uploaded to YouTube showed Stinson and the other officer grabbing the 17-year-old driver by the neck and pulling at his arms as they tried to remove him from the vehicle.

Solar eclipse will be visible in Western U.S. Saturday morning

GILLETTE (WNE) — When Wyomingites look up at the sky Saturday morning, they should be able to see a partial eclipse.
During an annular solar eclipse, the apparent size of the Moon’s disk is slightly smaller than the apparent size of the Sun’s disk, so that only the outer edge of the Sun remains visible. For those who are inside the path of the eclipse, this will give the appearance of a bright ring of light, hence the name, ring of fire.
