Suspects sought for upcoming mystery dinner theater in Basin

The Friends of the Basin Library and the Basin City Arts Center will present the Murder Mystery Dinner and Theater fundraiser on Saturday, April 13 at the BCAC.
You can play a role in the performance.  Fourteen people are needed to play the role of suspects.

Brosnan gets in hot water for Yellowstone stroll

CASPER (WNE) — As James Bond, he had a license to kill — to go wherever and do whatever he wanted. Real life isn’t quite the same.
Actor Pierce Brosnan has been fined $1,540 for walking in a protected thermal area at Yellowstone National Park.
In November, Brosnan uploaded pictures of himself at Mammoth Hot Springs to Instagram. And, while he avoided falling into the springs’ 160-degree water – hot enough to kill most bacteria, quickly cause third-degree burns and perhaps poach an egg — Brosnan didn’t avoid some legal hot water.

Fewer overall deaths, births, marriages and divorces were officially logged among Wyoming residents in 2023 compared to the year before according to records held by Vital Statistics Services (VSS), which is part of the Wyoming Department of Health (WDH).

Empty Bowls event, art show ‘souper’ successful

Riverside art teacher Dineen Mueller said she is very pleased about the turnout for the recent art event at the school.
The event featured the University of Wyoming Art Mobile, a soup dinner and one-of-a-kind bowls made by students. The bowls could be purchased.
Twenty-three artists showcased their works during the event. Music was provided by bagpiper Tom Burcher, the Riverside school choir and speech/debate team.

NARCAN training, visual observation specialist program topics at recent commission meeting

Big Horn County Prevention Coordinator Travis Sylvester meet with the commissioners via Zoom on March 5.
One topic was NARCAN training. Narcan is an over-the-counter nasal spray for opioid overdose treatment. A training was recently held in Lovell for first responders. Thirty people took the training. Sylvester is working on a training in the south end of the county.  He hopes to combine it with suicide prevention training.

Cooper reflects on key bills from legislative session

Sen. Ed Cooper, R-Ten Sleep, looked back at the good and the bad of this session. “There was a lot of noise about some of the things that went on in the House and the Senate. Some of the media talked about the few negative things that happened, but there was some really common sense legislation that came out of this session. Overall, everything is very positive.”

It all started when Robin Allen of Road 10 T-Shirts and More borrowed a CriCut vinyl cutter to do some crafts. As she worked, her busy mind leapt from what she was doing to what she could imagine doing.
“And that was it,” Allen said. “I started working in my parents’ garage with a picnic table and one other table.” She gestures to the two counters filled with presses, cutters, computers, and racks of shelves holding shirts, mugs, keychains, decals, and other items waiting to be printed on.

Pig wrestling returns to Big Horn County Fair

At the Big Horn Fair Board meeting on March 3, the board learned that a contractor reached out about providing pigs for pig wrestling.
Last year pig wrestling was not a part of the fair entertainment. No contractor to run the wrestling and/or provide pigs could be found. Fair Manager Cash Duncan said the cost would be $4,500 for 45 pigs. The date would be August 1.
