Wyoming is the nation’s leader in bentonite production, and for more than 70 years, Greybull has been home to two production facilities, with M-I SWACO’s
base of operations just north of town and Wyo-Ben’s a few miles further up Road 26.
All that changed earlier this week when Wyo-Ben, Inc., announced the acquisition of M-I SWACO’s bentonite assets in the Greybull area. In a release, Wyo-Ben called it a move that “strengthens  our position as a leader in the industry and paves the way for exciting opportunities and growth.”

Melissa Cook, community vitality and health educator from the UW Extension Office in Basin, attended the Oct. 17 meeting of the Big Horn County Commission.
Cook talked about an EMT class that runs from Nov. 14 until Feb. 17. “I’m partnering with Northwest Community College and therefore I’m not competing against them anymore,” she said. “It’s through them. However, I still am pretty much doing the class as far as everything else. People have to pay $1,000 to Northwest to pay for the class I had set up to begin with. “

Nearly nine years after the sale of Tri County Telephone Cooperative exchange, a lawsuit filed after the sale appears to be settled with a recent Wyoming Supreme Court decision.
In an opinion dated Oct. 24, 2023, the State Supreme Court ruled that the District Court, under Judge Janson Conder did not err when he issued a summary judgement for TCT, Neil Schlenker, Big Horn Telecommunications and all other defendants.
