Poppy donation project starts Nov. 1
Marion Tanner Auxiliary Unit 29’s annual Poppy Drive will run through the month of November. The purpose of the project is to collect donations for veterans and active-duty military women and men. All funds go directly to the veterans and/or active military personnel and families who are in need.
The story of the poppy is founded in Flanders Field, where it became the flower representing the brave heroes who gave their all and to the brave heroes who returned home scarred physically, mentally and socially.
Poppy Chairman Kay Mowery is delivering letters to local businesses in October. She will return to those businesses on Nov. 7. Auxiliary members will have tables taking donations throughout the month of November at the Basin Post Office and between the Copper Corner and Basin’s Market.
