• Police Report

The following calls were received by the Basin Police Department last week (Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney):

April 21 — A VIN inspection was done at Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office (BHCSO).

An officer assisted another agency at the BHCSO.

Basin PD assisted public works with traffic control on South Fourth Street.

A person called to talk to the chief about a ride-along they discussed earlier in the month.

A VIN inspection was done on South Fifth Street.

A business check was done at the Family Dollar and Mount View Cemetery.

April 22 — A VIN inspection was done at BHCSO.

Basin PD was informed of road closures on East B Street and South 3rd Street for replacing waterline.

Extra patrol was done at Mount View Cemetery. 

A business check was done at the School District #4 building.

A building check was done on West B Street.

A building check was done on South 4th Street.

April 23 — Two VIN inspection were done at BHCSO.

A VIN inspection was done on South Fourth Street.

Extra patrol was done at Mount View Cemetery.

A business check was done at the School District #4 building.

April 24 — An officer assisted the general public at the Wyoming Retirement Center (WRC).

A VIN inspection was done at the BHCSO.

An officer assisted another agency at the BHCSO.

A missing dog was reported on North Eighth Street.

Extra patrol was done on West B Street and  Mount View Cemetery.

April 25 — Two VIN inspections were done at the BHCSO.

A building check was done at the Overland Express Mart.

Extra patrol was done at Mount View Cemetery and on West B Street.

April 26 — An officer was enroute to Greybull to assist the Greybull police department at South Fifth Street.

Property damage occurred on C Street.

April 27 — An officer assisted a person in a depressed mood at the BHCSO.

A business check was done on North Fourth Street.

A Basin PD assisted a resident at the BHCSO who’s brother made him angry.

Business checks were done at Family Dollar, North Fifth Street, West B Street, South Fourth Street and North Fourth Street.

Extra patrol was done at WRC, Mount View Cemetery, Raw Water Pond and Basin Boat Ramp and  Mount View Cemetery.

• Sheriff's Report

The following calls were received by the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office: (Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the Court:

April 21 – 1:43 p.m.: A cell phone was reported found on the side of the highway in Basin. 

2:01 p.m.: A traffic stop was initiated on Orchard Bench Road in Basin and a warning issued. 

2:36 p.m.: A tree branch was reported on fire on Lane 38 in Burlington. 

3:01 p.m.: A civil standby was requested on Road 31.5 in Shell. 

3:38 p.m.: A cat bite was reported in Manderson, officers were unable to locate. 

6:04 p.m.: Speeding and unsafe driving were reported on Highway 20 South in Greybull.

April 22 – 7:28 a.m.: A dispute between neighbors was reported at the Sheriff’s Office in Basin. 

9:17 a.m.: A vehicle vs. deer accident was reported on Highway 31 in Manderson. 

11:15 a.m.: A hit and run incident where a vehicle hit a fence was reported on Trapper Creek Road in Shell. 

12:14 p.m.: A test of a Life Alert device was conducted at Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office in Basin. 

2:11 p.m.: Found property was turned in to Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office in Basin. 

5:45 p.m.: An officer conducted a traffic stop and issued a warning on Highway 20 in Basin. 

5:47 p.m.: A utility issue was reported on South Eighth Street in Basin. 

8:21 p.m.: A traffic stop was initiated on Highway 20 South in Greybull and a warning issued. 

8:42 p.m.: A traffic stop was initiated and a warning issued on Fifth Avenue South in Greybull. 

8:46 p.m.: A motorist was assisted on Greybull River Road. 

April 23 – 9:56 a.m.: A road closure on the Lower Nowood beginning Tuesday was reported. 

10:05 a.m.: A business check was conducted at Maverik Country Store on North Sixth Street in Greybull. 

2:15 p.m.: A REDDI report was made on a black and purple F250 swerving in and out of their lane on Highway 20 near Baain. 

2:57 p.m.: A dump truck reportedly crashed through a fence on Highway 30 in Burlington. 

5:27 p.m.: Officers assisted Highway Patrol on Highway 30 in Burlington. 

6:02 p.m.: A cow was reported in the road at Highway 31 in Manderson. 

8:10 p.m.: Cows were reported loose on Highway 20 South/Highway 433 in Manderson. 

7:54 p.m.: A possible unattended control burn was reported at Highway 30 in Burlington. 

April 24 – 2:56 a.m.: Cows were reported loose on Highway 310 in Greybull. 

8:40 a.m.: Officers assisted the Department of Family Services at Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office in Basin. 

8:49 a.m.: A cattle issue was reported on Highway 310/Highway 20 in Greybull. 

1:06 pm.: Deputies assisted the public at Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office in Basin. 

3:20 p.m.: A traffic stop was conducted and a warning issued on Highway 310 in Greybull. 

April 25 – 9:57 a.m.: Search and rescue was called to The Hideout on Road 40.5 in Shell for assistance locating a wrangler with an injury. 

10:51 a.m.: A civil standby was requested on Road 31.5 in Shell. 

11:38 a.m.: A dog was reported found on First Street South in Otto. 

11:54 a.m.: A traffic hazard deer carcass was reported on Highway 31 in Manderson. 

4:03 p.m.: Deputies assisted the public at Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office in Basin. 

8:05 p.m.: A cow was reported out on Highway 31 in Manderson. 

10:27 p.m.: Officers assisted Highway Patrol at Lynn’s Supermarket on North Sixth Street in Greybull. 

11:31 p.m.: Deputies assisted Greybull Police Department at Bair Apartments on Sunset Drive in Greybull. 

11:34 p.m.: A business check was conducted at Maverik Country Store on North Sixth Street in Greybull. 

April 26 – 7:12 a.m.: A business check was conducted at Overland Express Mart on North Sixth Street in Greybull. 

10:12 a.m.: An accidental 911 call was made and handled by dispatch at Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office in Basin. 

12:57 p.m.: A traffic stop was conducted and a warning issued on Highway 14/16/20 in Greybull. 

3:15 p.m.: A “controlled burn out of control” was reported on Lane 37 in Burlington. 

3:49 p.m.: A deputy checked on a motorist who had pulled over to use their cell phone on Highway 310 in Greybull. 

6:40 p.m.: Two black calves were reported out on Highway 20 in Basin. 

8:59 p.m.: Cows were reported loose on Highway 310 in Basin. 

April 27 – 2:17 a.m.: A traffic stop was conducted and a warning issued on Highway 310 in Greybull. 

12:47 p.m.: A business check was conducted at Maverik Country Store on North Sixth Street in Greybull. 

2:57 p.m.: A traffic stop was conducted and a warning issued on Highway 14/16/20 in Emblem. 

6:11 p.m. A citizen complained that the BNSF train had been blocking the entry to Manderson for 10 minutes on South Sherman Avenue. 

6:22 p.m.: Deputies referred an issue of cows on the roadway outside of Big Horn County to the Park County Sheriff’s Office. 

6:38 p.m.: Cody Interagency Fire Dispatch contacted the Sheriff’s Office regarding controlled burning in Big Horn County. 

6:40 p.m.: A traffic stop was conducted on Highway 30 in Otto.
