‘Nope a doodle’ and other fun words

Earlier this week, two young ladies came in the office to sing happy birthday to me. MaKenna and Kinsley are 10 and 5 years old, respectively. How fun it was to hear them talk and laugh.

When their dad asked MaKenna a question, she answered, “Nope a doodle.” All the adults in the office laughed. One of them, Greg, dared me to find a way to use that word in the paper this week. Challenge accepted.

It got us in the office thinking about other fun words.

”Babe-a-licious” as an endearing nickname (instead of honey or dear) or to describe someone you think is cute.

“Delulu” is for someone who is delusional or irrational.

“Bra” for brother. (Who came up with that? Why not just say Bro?)

“Cringe-a-roni” is self-explanatory.

“Hangry,” meaning your hunger is making you angry.

“Chillaxin,” as in chillin’ and relaxing.

“Bodacious” is a combination of bold and audacious.

“Kerfuffle”, “Gobbledygook” and “Gob smacked” aren’t used much anymore but are still fun to say.

“Malarkey” was one of dad’s words. He would tell us we were full of it. He also said we should stop our “Flummery” (which means insincere talk) and “Lollygagging.”

Us of a certain age will remember “supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.” Funny words can make you smile, maybe even giggle. Perhaps we should work on using them in our everyday speak. It could be a hootenanny.
