Alexander the 150-pound champ at Monster Match in Denver

Loomis Alexander, a senior at Riverside High School, went 4-0 and was the 150-pound champion at the Rocky Mountain Nationals Monster Match wrestling tournament held Nov. 1 in Denver.

The tournament hosted wrestlers from 34 states and was capped at 2,500 participants.

Unseeded going in, Alexander pinned his first opponent, Kane Clark of South Dakota, then topped Caycen Scholtz of Colorado by a 4-3 score to reach the semifinals, where he notched another first-period pin.

With that, he advanced to the final and a match up with the top seed in his bracket, Jaxsen Salinas of Kansas.  Alexander rose to the occasion, giving up no takedowns and just a single point due to escape on his way to an impressive 6-1 win.
