Attendees solve ‘Murder at Bella Morte’s Italian Ristorante’

A body in the pantry.  Detective Di Formaggio (played by Hazel Vanlandingham) of the local police was on the case.  The detective was also the sous chef at Bella Morte’s Ristorante.  She led the investigation into the death of Karl Ickbread, a famous restaurant owner and celebrity chef. Why was he there the opening night of his rival’s ristorante owned by Bella Morte?

The Friends of the Basin Library and the Basin City Arts Center presented “Murder at Bella Morte’s Italian Ristorante” mystery dinner theater Saturday, April 13.  Tickets were sold out as all the detectives needed had been recruited to help catch Karl Ickbread’s killer.  Dinner for ticket holders was in the BCAC ballroom.  
The murder mystery followed.  Twelve suspects .... and they all appeared guilty.  Meet Bella Morte (Annie Mueller), the ristorante owner who had pizza sauce on her apron. Or was it blood? Is Alona Novella (Clare Stulc), the librarian, guilty while she hid behind her books?  The Monk, Francisco Benedicto (Bill Mize) appeared meek but might not be so merciful!  The magazine editor Maria Cosmom (Nancy Tribble) looked good for it.  All politicians are suspicious including Mayor Fiasco (Michael Jaycox), but was he a killer?  The boxer Roxy Marciano (Cis Sylvester) tried to play innocent.  Perhaps the plumber Mario Carta (Robin Nichols) found himself in the pantry instead of the restroom?  It’s got to be the crime boss, Don Canneloni (Bill Robertson) but what was his motive? Perhaps the circus performer Poni Canza (Kathleen Nichols) was up to her tricks?   Michael Angelo (Max Stulc) might be your killer. Artists pretend to be sensitive but, no.  It’s the ice cream vendor Una Cornetto (Carol Fuller), but was she too happy to be guilty?  Don’t lose your focus when it comes to “daddy’s little girl,” Lolita Canneloni (Dee Robertson.)  She has a rebellious streak that could lead to murder.

Each ticket was entered in a drawing for a $25 gift certificate to the Copper Corner Cafe.  Performance awards for best costume and best acting and audience awards for best female detective and best male detective were provided by Security State Bank.
