On Wednesday, Jan. 17, Basin resident Wade Williams received a certificate of recognition alongside a pin featuring an American flag and Army flag.
Williams served in both the U.S. Navy, U.S. Army and in Vietnam. Jayson Nicholson, a Navy Reserve Chaplin from Stillwater Hospice of Northern Wyoming, presented Williams with the certificate.
Williams’s daughter Alnetta, brother Roger, sister-in-law Stephanie and friend James Johnson were there to witness the intimate ceremony.
Williams moved to Basin as a young child in the 1940s. He grew up with Jolene Presley. They were married and moved to Washington State. They returned to Basin in 2007 and, after 56 years of marriage, Jolene passed away in 2022.
Alnetta said that her father is her hero. He was extremely touched to receive the recognition. He is currently at home with his family in hospice care, waiting for his wings to arrive.
