Boat ramp park dedicated to former mayor Juillard
The family of former Basin Mayor Phil Juillard gathered at the Basin Boat Ramp Park June 30. The occasion was the dedication of the Ramp/Park to Juillard.
Juillards’s wife Dorothy along with children Jodi, Cindy, Kris, Jory, Joel, Kevin plus spouses, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Basin Mayor CJ Duncan spoke before the unveiling of the sign. “I’ve been the mayor for eight years. I have a lot of respect for Phil and the amount of headaches he had. He served the town of Basin a lot of years. This park is a small portion of what he did for Basin. Raw water, long term connective water, long term electrical supply… The very first time he ran he said he wanted to get paved streets in Basin. He did that.
As I’m getting ready to leave office, I wanted to make sure that I honored him. I think it is amazing the family is all here today We would like to rename this park “Juillard Park and Boat Ramp.”
Refreshments were served at the pavilion. Duncan noted the pavilion, picnic tables, fruit trees and lilacs were possible through grants from the Wyoming Business Council. (The grants were written by the Basin Area Chamber). He continued that the town tries to make improvements each year.
