Thomas Lynn Bridges has been selected to fill the Cowley seat vacancy on the Big Horn County School District No.1 Board of Trustees.

The Cowley seat became open when Dave Banks tendered his letter of resignation at the September 12 meeting. No reasons were given for his resignation.

Bridges was born in Laramie while his parents attended the University of Wyoming. Upon his father’s graduation, they moved to Basin, where he attended one year of elementary school. However, all his other preparatory schooling was in Big Horn County School District No. 1: elementary in Cowley, middle school in Deaver and high school in Byron. After graduation, he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Las Vegas, Nevada. He later met his wife, Dani, while attending school in Rexburg.

Thomas and Dani Bridges have chosen to raise their three boys in Cowley: William, James and David. All three boys attend Rocky Mountain Elementary. Thomas is employed by Pryor Mountain Engineering and works on projects throughout the county.

Bridges said his interest in serving on the board comes from a desire to be involved with decisions that relate to his boys. He feels that the board is doing a good job and just wants to do his part in helping to move the district forward. He said his focus is on all members of the district, regardless of where they live.

Bridges was sworn in by board vice chairman Jared Boardman at the District One school board meeting on October 10, held in the board room of the District Office Building in Cowley.
