Burlington to celebrate Pioneer Day this weekend 

Burlington, Emblem and Otto communities will be celebrating Pioneer Day this weekend with a special theme of America’s 250th. 

The celebration will start Friday night with a Pickleball tournament held at Gormley’s courts and a Cornhole tournament in Centennial Park. Saturday will start early with muffins and juice put on by the cemetery board before the annual Fun Run and Bake Race starting at the Burlington cemetery. The parade will be held at 10 a.m. going down Mainstreet. Followed by a Pioneer Program held in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints gym at 10:45. 

The Community Lunch will be from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m. at Centennial Park and will cost $5 a person or $25 per family. The afternoon will have a 4 on 4 Volleyball tournament also held in Centennial Park. Jerry George will have a Historical Presentation in his classroom at Burlington Schools. 

In the evening, food trucks will be available for dinner and a dance open to families will be held in the school gym parking lot from 7 to 10 p.m. followed by a fireworks show put on by Thunder Fireworks.
