Burlington, Manderson and Basin primary election results
In the town of Basin, mayoral candidates Chuck Hopkin and Carl Olsen will compete in the general election in November. Hopkin received 176 votes to Olsen’s 135 votes. Candidate Danae Bales received 73 votes.
The four candidates moving forward in the Basin Council races are Stuart DesRosier, Steve VanderPloeg, Jennifer Riley and Michael Tanner. DesRosier with 210 votes, VanderPloeg with 167 votes, Riley with 84 votes and Tanner with 79 votes. There are two seats open on the council.
BURLINGTON
Gary Brunko ran unopposed in Burlington’s mayoral race. He will appear on the general election ballot. There were four candidates for Burlington’s four-year council seat, all four will move forward. They were Jackie Cenker with 53 votes, Matt Walker with 51 votes, Michael Harrington with 45 votes and Melissa Leonhardt with 39 votes.
There was also one two-year council seat open. The two candidates were Jessie Hamilton with 63 votes and Neal Wood with 47 votes. Both will move on to the general election.
MANDERSON
Bill Duncan was the lone candidate for mayor. He received 18 votes. There were no candidates for the open council seats. There are two four-year term seats open with a total of 30 write ins. There were 16 write in votes for the one two-year council seat. Write in vote tallies will be listed on the county website after canvasing starts on Thursday, August 20.
