Burlington speech team completes regular season

Burlington’s speech and debate team finished its regular season with meets in Greybull and Rock Springs. 

In Greybull at the Greybull and Burlington Forensic Challenge, the Huskies joined Riverside, Big Horn, Douglas, Thermopolis, Wyoming Indian, Jackson, Powell and Worland. “This was a small tournament, but they had some massive competition against some of the largest schools in this half of the state,” said Coach Leah St. Clair.” 

Kitzen Schatz took second in Congress and Layla Baer took fifth in Informative. 

The Wind River District Tournament was held in Rock Springs last weekend and determines which students will be eligible to compete at the national tournament in June. “The team worked their butts off trying to qualify. The results were a little disappointing to some, but they tried so hard!” 

Reece Allen made it to quarter-finals for Informative and Schatz qualified to compete at the national level in Congressional Debate. 

“We just have state left next weekend and we’re all excited to see how they do!” said St. Clair. 

The Huskies will compete at the state tournament on March 12-14 in Cheyenne.
