Community overwhelmingly wants mural where Eagles Building once stood
At the Oct. 14 meeting of the Basin Town Council, Mayor CJ Duncan said the input from the community about the public area was in support of painting a mural on the concrete wall. He believes there may be some grants from the Wyoming Art Council to hire an artist to do a mural. He would also like to see picnic tables on the lot.
Duncan also noted that the $20,000 from the National Fraternal Order of the Eagles had been received. He would like to see that money used to repair the bathrooms in the Eagles building annex that was saved. There was also some discussion about adding heating/cooling for the annex; all the utilities came from the original Eagles building.
Councilperson Carl Olson said he talked to a masonry in Worland and that a footer is needed to
put a split face decorative block wall up on the west side of the annex building.
Also reviewed in the meeting was a memo dated Oct. 13 from Engineering Associates that provide an update on the building. The memo noted that TNT had completed the concrete wall along the south property line. A sealant was applied. Still needed from TNT is a metal cap of the top of the wall. The majority is completed but they ran into an issue trying to secure the flashing to the old sandstone on the bar side of the wall. TNT and Engineering Associates will be meeting at the site to discuss it further.
