Curtis (Curt) Wayne Good

Curtis (Curt) Wayne Good

March 3, 1955 – March 18, 2022

Curtis (Curt) Wayne Good of Greybull, Wyo., passed away on March 18, 2022, in the Billings Clinic at the age of 67, with his family by his side.

Curt was born on March 3, 1955, in Powell, Wyo., to Robert (Bob) and Myrna Good. Curt was raised on the back of a horse and was an avid team roper until he started to have health difficulties in his 50s. His love of horses and rodeo was passed on to him and his siblings by his father Bob Good. For the Good family, rodeo wasn’t a hobby — it was a way of life, and still is for his siblings to this day. Curt was a simple man; he would roll into a rodeo in a raggedy truck and trailer and walk out with a champion’s saddle or a few new belt buckles. He took pride in the fact that he didn’t need anything fancy to come in first. Many of Curt’s lifelong friends were made at rodeos, and because of that Curt seemed to have an old roping buddy anywhere he went.

Curt graduated from Custer High School in 1973 and shortly after married Sandra Kemph on Feb. 10, 1974. After high school, he did ranch work with his father and Kemph Land and Livestock until 1977, when they moved to McLeod, Mont. Together, Sandra and Curt had a daughter, Misty, and a son, Robert. Curt continued working on a ranch for his father-in-law, until moving to Greybull in 1981, where he lived for the rest of his life. There he worked at MI Drilling until 2009 when he retired due to health problems.

On Sept. 20, 2011, Curt married Darla Yates Thorne; they spent many happy years together enjoying grandkids and each other. He will especially be remembered for his love and devotion to his five grandchildren. Curt could be seen at every sporting event or competition his grandchildren were in, sitting in a lawn chair with a cooler full of snacks. He always had a Reese’s peanut butter cup or sucker for anyone in need. It is this pure-hearted generosity that made him loved by so many.

Curt is preceded in death by his father Bob Good and his best horse and roping partner, Macho.

He is survived by his mother Myrna Good; his siblings Ronna Collingwood (Scott), Teresa Good Pollan (Keeton), and Pablo Good (Danae); his daughter and son-in-law Misty and Edgar Hernandez, his son and daughter-in-law Robert and Sarah Good, his five grandchildren Mason Irvine, Isabel Gaultney (Nicholas), Elizabeth Good, Levi Hernandez, and Adeline Good, and his numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Services will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday,  March 26, at the First Presbyterian Church in Greybull, with a graveside service after at the Donald J. Ruhl Memorial Cemetery. The reception will immediately follow at the Tipsy Cow.
