Darlene Overstreet

Darlene passed away Nov. 25, 2024, at Three Rivers Hospital in Basin, Wyo., after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born at the family home on Taylors Mountain in Bedford, Va., to the late Anna Lee Noland Overstreet and Alexander Overstreet. She always loved to tell the story of how shortly after being born, her mother accidently dropped her into the wood box and that explained how she got her ways.
Darlene loved all her family, friends, spending winters in Parker, Ariz., giving advice, taking care of her grass, her truck, fishing and her cat Tootsie.
She is survived by her life partner of 34 years, Deborah Smith of Basin, Wyo.; her brother Jerry D. Overstreet of Roanoke, Va.; sister-in-law Kathy Smith-Stephens (Mark) of Basin, Wyo.; nephew Jerry D. Overstreet Jr. (Sue) of Fayetteville, S.C.; niece Tracy Overstreet Meador of Roanoke, Va., niece Angela Overstreet Manley (Travis) of Bedford, Va., Kristy and Brady Michaels of Basin, Wyo., Ryan and Aly Smith of Monroe, Wash., and Derek and Jackee Smith of Molt, Mont.; great nieces and nephews Howard Spangler III and Brian Spangler of Roanoke, Va., Brittany and Brianna Manley of Bedford, Va., Emily Smith and Cayden Michaels of Basin, Wyo., Beckett and Lincoln Smith of Monroe, Wash. and Sterling Smith of Molt, Mont.
A special mention of her friends Cyndi Schultz of Reading, Pa., and Donnie Mahala of Salem, Va., and to the many, many friends in Wyoming, Virginia, Arizona and Pennsylvania.
Darlene touched the lives of everyone who met her and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
Upon her wishes, there will be no memorial service and her ashes will be interred at a later date in the family cemetery on Taylors Mountain in Bedford, Va.
