May 14, 1951 – June 10, 2015Funeral services for David Wayne Bell of Cody were held June 17 at the Christ Episcopal Church in Cody. David, 61, died June 10 of pancreatic cancer at his home in Cody.David was born May 14, 1951, in Richmond, Va. He graduated from high school in Nashville, Tenn., and received his degree in international studies from Transylvania University in Lexington, Ky.After David received his degree, he restored old buildings in Kentucky for 12 years. He was married and his first daughter, Sarah, was born. He later divorced.In 1986, David married Carol Flitner of Shell and began a life of love and family. They lived in Lexington for six years where his next two children, Luke and Jane, were born. David and Carol moved to Cody in 1992. He spent the last 22 years working for Mountain West Farm Bureau as an agent, then as a regional manager. He retired in December 2013.He was an honest, hard-working man who took pride in a job well done, whether that was carpentry, planting a garden, advising family and friends, or packing for a camping trip. He loved road biking with Carol, motorcycling with his buddies, traveling the world and an excellent cappuccino. He was a good listener, inquisitive, thoughtful, an avid historian and a lover of details. He will be deeply missed by those whose lives he touched.David is survived by his wife Carol Flitner Bell; two daughters and a son-in-law, David and Sarah Bell Hellevang of Laramie, and Jane Bell of Cody; his son, Luke Bell of Nashville, Tenn.; his parents, Wayne and Virginia Bell of Lexington; four siblings, Brenda Bell of Maryville, Tenn., Marsha Uselton of Knoxville, Tenn., Laura Bell of Cody, and Ken Bell of Lexington.Donations in David’s memory can be made to Wyoming Public Radio and Spirit Mountain Hospice of Cody.
