Days of ‘49 fashion show highlights vendors, hometown author

Ranch Candy Mercantile is proud to present “The Year of the Horse” Fashion Show, returning to the Days of ‘49 celebration with an inspiring showcase of local talent, small businesses and community pride.

Featuring more than 15 local models of all ages, shapes and sizes, this year’s fashion show is a celebration of confidence, authenticity and the belief that true beauty comes from embracing who you are. The event will also highlight products from over 40 local small business vendors that call Ranch Candy Mercantile home.

The idea for the fashion show came when business owner Camie Smith discovered a 1965 Days of ‘49 program listing events that included the can-can girls, a main street play and a community fashion show.

“I’ve always wanted to bring back the traditions that made Days of ‘49 such a special community celebration,” said Smith. “This event is about supporting our main street businesses, showcasing local talent and reminding every woman that beauty has nothing to do with size -- it comes from confidence and being comfortable in your own skin.”

Now in its fourth year (after taking a brief pause last year), the Ranch Candy Mercantile Fashion Show has become a favorite Days of ‘49 tradition, giving local women the opportunity to shine while also introducing visitors to the incredible makers, artists and entrepreneurs represented inside the mercantile.

Adding to this year’s festivities, hometown author Scott Werbelow will be at Ranch Candy Mercantile signing and showcasing the fourth installment of his “Son of a Poacher” series. The store is honored to welcome him back to share his newest release with the community.

For the fourth consecutive year, Ranch Candy Mercantile has partnered with the Silver Spur Saloon to host the fashion show on a stage generously donated by Mike Howe, located in the Spur’s front seating area adjacent to main street. While enjoying the show, guests can purchase bloody Marys, screwdrivers and mimosas served in collectible boot glasses at $3 for smalls and $5 for large, while supplies last. Pepsi/Admiral Beverage of Worland has donated the event stage banner and refreshing summer beverages for the celebration.
