Do you exhibit puppet or scarecrow-like behavior?
Dear Editor:
If you are one of those who watch TV, believe what you see and hear without checking the information with primary sources, then pass that information onto others, you might be a puppet on string or scarecrow which lacks a brain.
In regards to last week’s ramblings of Lynn Meier, I will briefly address three points from her comments: IVF i.e. test tube fertilization, late term abortions, Project 2025 ch. 10. Unlike the previous article, I will provide my sources so others may learn to properly research information in order to make informed decisions and have valid talking points.
Meier claimed, “Trump did this to women. People are not having abortions in the ninth month and killing babies.” For the record Trump only put to a vote that the states reclaim the power to decide what abortion laws should be in their states. This went to a vote and passed; he had nothing to do with creating abortion laws in each state. Regarding the Right to IVF Act which was introduced June 3, 2024 by Sen. Duckworth (D-IL), “The bill supersedes state laws…..including laws that require medically unnecessary procedures or services in conjunction with fertility treatments based on material status or sex (including sexual orientation or gender identity)” (congress.gov). It goes on to state that Medicare and Medicaid will cover these treatments. Now, having more information, how many feel that the taxpayer should fund IVF for those who are not biologically female and may include gender altering operations? Why blame Trump for this? He isn’t even in office.
Late term abortions with “no state- imposed thresholds” are currently happening in: “Alaska, Colorado, District of Columbia, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, and Vermont”. They are allowed in Arkansas and Utah in the case of rape and incest and in most states if the mother’s life or physical health is threatened. Lastly chapter 10 of Project 2025 is a “scary read” stated Meier. Maybe reading the new regulations got you scared as it should but as one reads further one will find that Project 2025 was written by a “broad coalition of conservative organizations that have come together ... organized by the Heritage Foundation” (project2025.org). It starts by stating that they want to correct policies the Biden administration added: regulations “regarding climate and environmental issues above agriculture … to transform agricultural production.” There is mention of “smart food, feeding the world and other changes that the Biden administration has made and this group recommends fixing these hindering regulations. (Section 3:10 Dept. Agriculture Daren Basket pg. 289). Project 2025 is nothing more than a suggestion created by an independent group who don’t agree on every issue written in the document. Neither candidate participated in the making of Project 2025, neither endorsed the document. Know your sources and the facts.
