Elks to honor veterans on Nov. 11
The Greybull Elks Lodge is inviting area veterans and their spouses to a special Veterans Day dinner on Monday, Nov. 11.
Social hour starts at 5:30 p.m., with the dinner to follow. The menu consists of prime rib, baked potatoes, green beans, salads, homemade rolls and desserts.
Veterans and widows of veterans eat free; a guest may accompany each veteran for a charge of $12.
The event is for veterans in the Greybull, Basin, Lovell, Burlington, Emblem, Shell, Manderson and Hyattville areas.
Seating is limited so please RSVP to Flitner, 765-2552, by Wednesday, Nov. 6.
Pam Flitner, who organizes the event for the Elks, said 150 people attend the last one, back in 2022, and that she’s hopeful of having a similar turnout this year.
While the Elks host the event, the entire community chips in, according to Flitner.
“It’s amazing the support we get,” she said. “When we ask, it’s never even a question. Everyone’s always very willing to help.”
The list of contributors is a long one, consisting of local businesses, civic and religious organizations, caring families and individuals.
Any money that is leftover after the Veterans Day dinner will be used for future Elks projects that benefit veterans.
“Within our local area, we have hundreds of individuals who have served in the military,” said Flitner. “It is the goal of the Elks to recognize and honor these local veterans.”
