Emma Lou Marchant Wilson died peacefully, surrounded by her family on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014, in Lovell.
Lou was born on Aug. 27, 1928, in Cowley to Emma Caufield and Ward Wright Marchant. She married Charles Arthur Wilson on Nov. 10, 1946. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on April 16, 1965.
Lou was very talented and known for her beautiful singing voice. Throughout her life she sang at the funerals and weddings of many loved ones and friends. Her children and grandchildren all have fond memories of her singing to them and of the love they felt during those special times.
Lou was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings. She enjoyed serving the Lord and her community and did so with diligence and love. She was a wonderful cook, and many, especially after branding at the ranch, appreciated her meals.
Friends and family were endlessly entertained by her intelligence, quick wit and great sense of humor. Lou enjoyed music, poetry, literature, writing and ranching, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family. Her loving devotion as a wife, mother, grandmother and friend will always be remembered.
She is survived by two of her sisters Joy Bloom and Ruth Werbelow; her children, Boyd Wilson, Diane (Myron) Durtsche, Wesley Wilson, Kim (Lisa) Wilson and John (Suzanne) Wilson; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Lou was preceded in death by her husband Charles Arthur Wilson; her daughter Nancy Lou Wilson; her parents Ward and Emma Marchant; her siblings Austin, Nola, Twila, Jewel, Ward, Dell, Martha, Robert and Mary Louise and her grandson Stuart M. Wilson.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Nov. 18, at the Cowley LDS Church. Interment was in the Cowley Cemetery. Haskell Funeral Home in Lovell was in charge of arrangements.
