Eric James Anderson
August 22, 1960- May 20, 2026
Eric James Anderson, 65 yrs old, passed away on May 20th at his home in Greybull Wyoming after a battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). He was born August 22, 1960, the son of Karl and Carole Anderson, in Denver, Colorado.
Eric grew up mostly outside, riding horses, bikes, and hunting with his friends Wally, Garland, Mike, Bryon, and Eric. He attended elementary school and graduated from Riverton High School later earning an associate’s degree at Northwest Community College. He also attended Arizona State for a year.
Eric’s interests included any and everything to do with guns, reloading, shooting, hunting (his favorite was Antelope), buying/selling guns and scopes. He enjoyed traveling, cooking, and baking. He was known as an excellent baker and cook. He really enjoyed gardening of all kinds with a special gift for growing garlic.
Eric tried his hand at many jobs including construction, outfitter hunting guide, Mike’s Bodyshop and managed many construction projects throughout the state building bridges. Eric particularly enjoyed his taxidermy business and working with the Bar J Wranglers. He was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous (celebrating 33 years of sobriety) and helping many others in their journey to sobriety. He won many awards in competitive shooting specifically in Long Range Rifle and Trap Shooting.
Above all, Eric lived to give glory to God and tell others about the One who had saved him. His prayer in his battle with ALS was that he would finish well, bring glory to God and be an encouragement for others. That prayer was answered and countless lives touched these last five months.
Eric was preceded in death by his parents five and six years ago. In addition to JoAnne (Shervin), his wife of sixteen years, he is survived by his first wife, Christine and their son, T.J. Anderson; stepson Danny Shervin and his wife, Jenny; stepson A.J. Shervin and his wife, Megan. Eric’s grandchildren are Asher, Paxton, Niko, and Phinlee.
A service of remembrance will be held May 30th at 1030 a.m., at First Baptist Church in Basin, WY with a reception following the service also at First Baptist. Eric wanted those who wish to remember him in a special way to skip the flowers…buy someone a cup of coffee and make a friend.
