Filing update: Candidates enter races for special district seats

With one week in the filing period remaining, some of the races for special district seats in south Big Horn County are starting to take shape.
Most of the early filers have been incumbents.
The filing window closes at 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26.

School boards
For Big Horn County School District No. 1, Julie Michaels has filed for the two-year Burlington seat and Wendy Fuller has filed for the four-year at-large seat.
In Greybull, Pam Flitner, Todd Dalin and Sandra Menke will vie for new terms on the Big Horn County School District No. 3 board.  Four seats are expiring this year.
And no one has filed for the four seats that will expire on the Big Horn County School District No. 4 board.  Two of the seats are for Area J (Basin), one is for area K/L (Manderson/Hyattville) and the other one is an at-large seat.

Cemetery districts
Trent Aagard, Barbara Davidson and Mike L. Riley filed for the three four-year terms on the Burlington Cemetery board.
Robert Herman, Kristine Robertson and Nancy Zierolf filed for the three four-year terms on the Hyattville Cemetery board.
Janalee Jones Call and Andrew Tolman have filed so far for the three four-0year terms on the Otto Cemetery board.
As of Monday, no one had applied for the boards of the South Central Special Cemetery District or the Emblem Cemetery District.

Other offices
In other filing news:
• Walter Hibbert, an incumbent, has filed for reelection to the South Big Horn Conservation District board.
• Several have filed for fire district board seats, including Barbara Anne and Deb Craft in District 2 (Basin), Dave Paumer and Luke Foss in District 3 (Manderson-Hyattville) and Clifford Graham Alexander and Susan Davidson in District 4 (Burlington).
• Incumbents Trudy Craft and Fred Werner have filed for re-election to the South Big Horn County Hospital District’s board of directors.
• Incumbents Kristi Bonnel-Phillips and Diane Nuttall along with Sherri Emmett have filed for the board of the South Big Horn Senior Citizen Service District.
• Deb Rathbun, an incumbent, and Deb Fowler have filed for seats on the Rural Health District No. 1 board of trustees.
