Friends of the Library murder mystery reveals the guilty party
It’s 1870 in the town of Dead Man, Wyoming. There’s a big crowd whoopin’ it up in Dead Man’s Saloon. All at once, word spreads that there’s going to be a shootout on Main Street. The crowd rushes outside to watch. Suddenly, two shots ring out inside the saloon! The crowd rushes back in to find the dead body of Deputy Drinkwater. Who stayed behind to do the evil deed?
The High Noon at Dead Man’s Saloon Murder Mystery and BBQ Dinner that took place last Saturday at Harris Hall was a sold-out fundraiser that raised money for the Friends of the Basin Library.
Who stayed behind to do the deed? Was it Nugget McRush (Cis Sylvester), a gold miner? Or saloon owner Dewdrop Pinn (Susan Peterson)? Maybe Calamity Jill (Abbri Wagner) did the dirty deed. Couldn’t be Annie Croakley (Patty Stulc) or One-Eyed Pete (Stetson Greer). Maybe Shott O’Wiskey (Kitzen Schatz) the bartender did it. Doctor Quackery (Mo Wyatt) is surely good for it. Songbird Lil (Nancy Tribble) is too pretty to be a killer. The stagecoach driver Wellesley Fargo (Karen McKay) looks suspicious! Belle Banditt (Clare Stulc), a stagecoach robber, is surely guilty. Patty Petticoat (Annie Mueller) is the saloon dancer. Did she see anything? Card dealer Shuffle N. Cutt (Steve Watkins) might have dealt the killer card. Surely Waylin Straum (Jill Lorash) sings too pretty to be guilty! The outlaw gang member Buck N. Bronco (Dawson Greer) is guilty by association.
So, who dun it? Turns out that no-good stagecoach driver, Wellsley Fargo, did the dirty deed!
Trophies awarded through an audience vote went to Karen McKay aka Wellsley Fargo for Best Actor, Nancy Tribble aka Songbird Lil for Best Actor Costume and Diane Henrich for Best Audience Costume.
A big cowboy “Yahoo, thank you!” to directors Hazel Vanlandingham and Lori Dorr, all the volunteer actors, Scott Mattis, the sound man, the Episcopal Church for the use of Harris Hall, members of the Friends of the Basin Library and to the audience who made this fundraiser a success!
