Jerry passed away from injuries of an accidental fall in his home.
Jerry was born on the hill overlooking Shell Creek in the family home on Davis Lane. He was the fourth of seven sons born to Wendell and Clara (Hitchings) Cook. He was schooled on Shell Creek until 1949 when the family moved to Greybull. He graduated from Greybull High School in 1956.
Jerry moved to Thermopolis shortly after graduation. He worked several different jobs before becoming an apprentice plumber. Once he became a master plumber, he bought Glenn’s Plumbing and Heating, which he operated for several years until selling in the mid-1980s. He then moved to Rapid City, S.D. and opened a new plumbing business he operated until his death.
Jerry married Helen Johnson of Thermopolis. To this union they had two sons, Roger and Harold. Jerry and Helen later divorced. He married Carol Marigard and they later divorced. Jerry married Johnette Chatham of Thermopolis. They adopted her infant niece, Ashley.
Jerry was an avid sportsman and loved to hunt and fish since his childhood. He was a boy scout in his youth and was extremely proud of being a scout. He made his own snowshoes as one of his scout projects. Jerry was a long-time member of the Masonic Temple.
Jerry is survived by his wife Johnette; daughter Ashley; granddaughter Aerin; son Harold; brothers Donald (Jan) of Cody and David (Delane) of Basin, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by parents Wendell and Clara, brothers Charles, William, Roger and Jay, his grandparents and numerous aunts and uncles.
Jerry was an organ donor and others were helped through the organ donor program.
A private family service will be held at a later date at the Odessa Cemetery on Lower Shell Creek.
