GMS girls basketball teams find their rhythm
GMS girls basketball has seen a mixed bag the past couple of weeks, but with more wins than losses between all three teams as of late, they’re trending in the right direction.
“We have seen a lot of growth in each player,” Head Coach Becky Eichelberger reported.
The Buffs faced Riverside late last month, providing Greybull’s first wins of the season. The A team saw a tight game that came down to the last seconds, ultimately winning 23-20. The B team followed with a concrete W, topping the Rebels 25-10 and the C team closed their sole win so far this season, 27-18.
Against Shoshoni on Oct. 30, the A team took one on the chin and came out 12-24, with B team bouncing back for a resounding 27-8 victory. The C team followed with a close loss, 22-26.
Greybull hosted Lovell on Nov. 3 and battled hard; the B team came away with the Buffs’ only win that day, 27-24, with the A team falling 29-38 and C team 5-48.
Ten Sleep visited Greybull the next day; The A team took out the Pioneers 27-17. The B team played two quarters, winning 11-4.
In their most recent competition, the girls traveled to Cowley to take on Rocky Mountain on Monday, taking three tough losses by scores of 12-34, 18-22 and 3-34.
“We continue to work on team defense and transitioning quickly into offense,” Eichelberger said. “These next couple weeks we will be able to practice some of the things we are struggling with and look forward to the final tournament of the season on Dec. 6.”
In preparation for that, the Buffs will play Wind River Friday, Nov. 14 in Pavillion. The C team opens at 3 p.m., followed by B team at 4 p.m. and A team at 5 p.m. Saturday they will travel to Meeteetse with games at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.
