The Goat

Sometime in recent history the term GOAT became an acronym for Greatest Of All Time. Gymnast Simone Biles (Owens), a participant in the Paris 2024 Olympics has been referenced as and is a great example of a “GOAT” because of her extraordinary gymnastic skills.

Being dubbed a GOAT is considered a compliment to those the honor has been given. Simone was even seen wearing a necklace with a sparkly charm of the horned animal with the same name, in acknowledgment of the acronym bestowed upon her.

So who determines the qualifications for becoming a GOAT? As with anything else perception is likely key, and the defining factor. Although if you have been watching the Olympics, it would be difficult to argue that Simone Biles should not be considered a GOAT.

Most of us do not have the skill level or an audience of followers to elevate us to GOAT

status. Even so, I think we all have a little bit of GOAT in us. As the road of life sometimes becomes rocky and our confidence is shaken we forget what we bring to the table. We might even forget just being us is unique and special. More importantly that there may be someone out there cheering us on as their GOAT teacher, GOAT mother, GOAT husband or GOAT friend. Maybe we aren’t Simone Biles but there is only one of each of us and what we bring no one else can.

So be the best you, that you possibly can and know each day you are the best You GOAT that ever was necklace or not.
