Going into regionals, nine Rebels have prequalified for state track meet

Even though the Riverside Rebels track and field team is smaller than it has been in recent years, they are mighty nonetheless. Five athletes got personal records this week and one is very close to prequalifying for the state meet.

Paul Stone set PRs in both the long jump (18 feet) and triple jump (39-6) at Friday’s Bobcat Invitational in Thermopolis.

Xander Dannar’s 12.58 in the 100 meters was a personal best. Danika Brauer ran her personal best of 30.24 in the 200 meters. Varissa Olsen threw a personal best in discus of 108-6, and Kennedy Bassett’s 13.13 in the 100 meters was a personal best, as well as her 16.27 in the 100-meter hurdles, breaking her own school record. Kenneth McClure continues to grow and got closer to the AQ mark in the 110-meter hurdles, running 18.98. 

The nine athletes who are prequalified for the state meet are Vinaya VanderPloeg in the 100 and 200, Kennedy Bassett in 100, 200, 100 and 300 hurdles, Varissa Olsen in discus, Ada Pratt in shot put, Wyatt Daly-Patterson in high jump and the 400-meter relay, Xander Dannar in the 400-meter relay, Paul Stone in the 400-meter relay and Reece Whisenant in the 100, 200, long jump, and 400-meter relay.
