Gun club completes trap machine replacement

The Bighorn Basin Gun Club has announced the completion of its trap replacement project, which was made possible by grant funding from the Sykes Endowment and the Wyoming Community Foundation.

The new Pat-Trap singles/doubles/wobble machines were installed in time for the club’s self-imposed deadline of April to facilitate the High School Trap League and the 4-H Shooting Sports spring season openers.

The project added the two new trap machines and updated electrical service inside the trap houses with modern integrally surge protected 115v outlets and service panels housing 30amp breakers. The trap house doors were re-hung to minimize water and pest entry. Club leaders have agreed to adding a wireless release system in the near future to simplify and enhance the trap shooting experience and enable smaller groups to function without an extra person to “pull” targets.

“The club wishes thank and appreciate the community leaders who dedicate their time to shooting sports involving the youth in our area, without whom our passions would amount to no more than a “good ‘ol boys” club,” said club president Brad Campbell. “For the committed people like Gretty Gasvoda, Calvin Brown, Nate Kreider and others, our hats are off to you for keeping us going. To the parents and students, thank you for supporting the programs and trusting us with your young’uns.

“Next year we are hopeful to get Greybull HS involved and have reached out in order to get the program underway.
