Huskies receive post season honors
All-conference and all-state honors have been announced and the Huskies have received recognition for their successful season. William Aagard, Rykael Andrew, Joe Bassett, Jordan Broederlow, Jordan Casey, Weston Gotfredson, Kole Walker, Brikton Wardell and Kyler Winters received North All-Conference honors. Broderlow was chosen as co-offensive player of the year with Quincy Paris from Midwest and Bassett was chosen as defensive player of the year with Trent Aagard and his staff receiving coach of the year.
Andrew, Bassett, Broederlow, Casey and Gotfredson also received all-state honors.
Aagard had high praise for his players: “I’m super proud of how hard these guys have worked not just this year but throughout their careers. They have made a big impact on Husky football.
“Joe Bassett has lived and breathed football. I feel he is the best defender in the state. This is his third year all state and all conference. He has lifted those around him and is the kind of football player every team needs. He is a great leader, football player and most importantly person. He led our defense and was a force on offense. He will be missed.
“Jordan Broederlow was able to step into a bigger role this year. He is an athletic guy who improved as the season progressed. His size and speed made him a tough matchup for opposing teams. He also played more physically this season and teams had to account for him on both sides of the ball. It was his second year all conference, first year all state.
“Weston Gotfredson is just a hard working, hard hat type of player. He made some spectacular catches over the season and blocked hard on offense. On defense, he was very steady and did a great job with whatever assignments he had. Second year all state and all conference.
“Jordan Casey was a big play machine on offense, making big catches and having big runs all season. He took on a bigger defensive role and had a lot of success covering the opposing team’s best receiver. He is quiet but one heck of a footballer. Second year all state and all conference.
“Rykael Andrew has been a tough, competitive guy for us. This year his defensive presence really picked up. He played with a lot of energy. He did a great job of controlling our offense and his ability to get big blocks for us was a big part of the success we have had the last few seasons. Second year all state and all conference.
“Kyler Winters is a guy who I thought should be an all-state player. He is an impressive athlete who worked hard to improve over the years. His defense was impressive and he had some of the best hits on the team. On offense, he became a lineman halfway through the season but did a great job. He also was a great receiver for us. Second year all conference.
“Brikton Wardell is a guy who plays with great energy and tenacity. He has worked hard and has become a big part of our success. Whatever we asked him to do, he did to the best of his abilities. As the year went on his workload increased and he did not disappoint. First year all conference.
“William Aagard had been a steady force for us for several years. His snapping ability has been outstanding. His defensive aggression was great this year and he made some big plays for the team. He is a team guy and did whatever was asked. First year all conference.
“Kole Walker had a good season for us. As a sophomore he was able to come in and make some big plays in big games. He was banged up a little throughout the year but some of his throws in big games really helped us get to the championship game. First year all conference.
“We had several other guys who really helped the team out. If it was scout team guys or other varsity contributors, it takes a whole team to have a successful season. It was a pleasure to work with this team. They are all first class people.”
