Huskies roll over Kaycee, host Ten Sleep Friday
The Burlington Huskies extended their win streak against Kaycee on Friday, bumping their record to 5-1 and 4-0 in conference play. “We played a pretty physical game. Kaycee is a tough team with some good players,” said Coach Trent Aagard. “I thought we did a good job of matching their intensity from the start.”
Jordan Michaels ran in the first of his three touchdowns with only a minute and half off the clock and the Huskies continued their lead, but Kaycee managed to put more points on the scoreboard and the first half ended with Burlington up 43-22. Kaycee scored first in the second half, but the Huskies pushed forward, scoring 30 unanswered points to win, 73-28.
Defensively, the Huskies continue to be a force with 60 tackles and eight tackles for a loss. “Our guys were able to make in-game adjustments that put us in better defensive positions and after that we were able to keep rolling. I thought we had good overall production. Joe Bassett and Hunter Aagard did a really good job with the run. The backfield did a good job of covering their receivers, so I’m pleased with our improvement in that area,” said Aagard.
Offensively, the Huskies had 280 rushing yards, with over 200 yards coming from Jordan Michaels and Bassett. “Joe and Rykael Andrew did a good job blocking and our running backs were able to find the holes. We were able to take advantage of Kaycee’s aggressive defense with some well-timed throws. Overall, it was another good team effort” said Aagard.
The Huskies host Ten Sleep at home on Friday at 1 p.m. for the final home game of the season.
