Huskies top team in the North Conference
Football’s regular season wrapped up last week and the Burlington Huskies ended with no game. “We found out early last week that Midwest would be forfeiting, so for us it was a good opportunity to sure up some things and work on ourselves,” said Coach Trent Aagard.
With an overall record of 7-2 and a conference record of 6-0, the Huskies had already secured the top spot in the North Conference, but a lot of other spots were decided over the weekend. “There was a three-way tie between Dubois, Farson and Casper Christian, which required a coin flip to determine seeding. Farson won that toss which made Dubois the No. 4 seed and Casper Christian the odd team out. Not an ideal situation, but it’s how those things are decided,” Aagard said.
Dubois has an overall record of 4-4 and is coming off a big win over Casper Christian and will be looking to upset the Huskies this week.
“It’s that time of year that any team can become hot and have a playoff run,” said Aagard. “We did that as a four seed years ago, so hopefully we can guard against becoming complacent. They have good size and can play some good ball. They have an option attack that we will have to be ready for.
“We haven’t played them in a couple of years so our guys aren’t familiar with them, but I’m sure that they will be ready to come in here and give us everything they have. In playoff season, you’re only given one game for sure. We need to make sure we are ready to play Friday.”
Kickoff is at 2 p.m. Cost of admission is $5 for adults, $3 for students.
