Husky JV beats Ten Sleep at home
Burlington’s JV football team hosted Ten Sleep on Friday. “Ten Sleep is trying to bring their program back and that can be a difficult task when you have to play kids who have a lot more experience,” said Coach Trent Aagard. “They had a couple of pretty good hitters so hopefully they can continue to get back on track. For us, I was excited to see how our guys played; we weren’t intimidated, but played with good energy.”
Offensively, the Huskies picked up 193 yards in their rushing game and 140 yards of passing. Jesus Perez led the way with two touchdowns and Kole Walker, Taft Winters and Kyler Winters each added one to lift the Huskies to the 36-20 win. “In a game like this, you love to see great effort. At times we didn’t execute as well as I wanted, but we were able to move on and do better the next play,” said Aagard.
Defensively, every player got in on tackles and the team had 42 overall, led by Brikton Wardell with 7 solo tackles and 4 assisted tackles. “It was a great opportunity for our guys to compete and rely on our team,” said Aagard. “Without some of our usual leaders out there, it was fun to see who was willing to step up and take charge. Over the years, I’ve come to expect teams from Burlington to play with great effort and these guys did not disappoint.”
Burlington heads to Dubois Saturday to close out the regular season, with kickoff at 1:30 p.m.
