Ideas for semi-quincentennial? Send them our way

“We can’t always choose the music life plays for us, but we can choose how we dance to it.” — Unknown.

The Big Horn County commissioners have appointed County Clerk Lori Smallwood and the chamber to the semi quincentennial committee for the county. We are looking for some ideas and help to make the 250th anniversary of our country an affair to remember in this county. Please email the chamber or Lori if you have some ideas, thoughts, etc. One idea that has already come up is that each of the community celebrations in 2026 (Mustang Days, BHC Fair, Days of ‘49, Pioneer Days, etc.) have a patriotic theme.

The Big Horn County silent auction basket was well received in Cheyenne. Thank you so much. We always need to remind them that we are small but awesome. Linda and Bruce Morrison from the Lovell Chamber and Lodging Tax Board were in attendance, too. We heard some great ideas to grow tourism tax dollars for the county. Stay tuned.

Headed back to Cheyenne for a State Parks Commission meeting. Will be taking swag bags to our five elected officials. Thank you, Big Horn REA and Western Sugar, for the items you have donated. If your business has stickers, pens, etc., we will gladly take them to the governor, secretary of state, superintendent of public instruction, treasurer and auditor.

Thank you, Museum of Flight & Aerial Firefighting, Engineering Associates (appreciate your donation to our Christmas light fund, too), American Legion Auxiliary Post #29, St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church and Eye Care for You/Dr. Randy E Waddell.

Chamber membership luncheon is Feb. 13 at noon. Lunch provided.
