The interesting questions that come this way
When you work at the paper and/or are associated with the chamber, you get a lot of strange questions. Strange in that you are not sure why they think you know the answers.
There really is no stupid question other than the one that isn’t asked. After all, questions broaden your knowledge, right?
I’ve written columns about this before. Here are some of the questions, followed by the answers that have come up since those columns.
• Is (name redacted) pregnant? Don’t have a clue and I’m not going to ask.
• Am I still 86’ed from the fairgrounds? Wow I didn’t know you were, but I can ask.
• Is (name redacted) dead? Not that I know of.
• What is the name of the tire store in Worland? Which one, there are two.
• Where do I take aluminum cans? Oh gosh, try Pete Smet Recycling in Worland.
• Do you know anything about the time and place for my gig at the Brewfest in Greybull? May I suggest you call the Greybull Town Hall. Could you give me their number? Sure.
• From a Worland resident: Is there any cantaloupe for sale in Basin? Not that I know of.
• What time do the streetlights in Basin come on? Humm dusk?
• What is the history of the Masonic Temple in Basin? Not a clue but maybe Charlene would know. (Sorry, Charlene.)
• Why is the Copper Corner Café closing at 1:30 p.m. each day? They don’t have a cook in the evening.
•What is the phone number for the Basin Post Office? Let me look in the phone book for you.
• Why is the sign at the Basin Clinic backwards? Because they are closed.
The last question was a life changing one from Annie Mueller. We talked about getting a lot of strange questions. She said my response should be “How can I help you figure out the answer? Have you tried Googling, the phone book, Facebook, asking that person/business yourself?” Since then additional questions have come in. My answers embrace her suggestion.
• What are the hours for the Post Office. Have you tried calling them or looking online?
• What is the number for the Greybull Rec? They have a Facebook page; I bet it is on there.
• From another Worland resident: Does the Basin grocery store have any avocados? I don’t know; you’d have to call them yourself.
Thanks Annie.
