It’s okay to say Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays

A few years back there was a big ado about how people who say “Happy Holidays” are trying to take “Christ” out of Christmas.
We can say both. There are many holidays from Nov. 20 to Jan. 24 including Thanksgiving, New Years, Hanukkah, Diwali (festival of lights), Los Posadas (which honors Joseph and Mary’s journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem), St. Nicholas Day and Boxing Day.
It was also said that some people were offended by the word Christmas, so we shouldn’t say it.
Christ should never be taken out of Christmas or our celebration. After all, He is “the reason for the season” for many of us.
A lot of people make Christmas about Santa. So why aren’t the people making a fuss about “Happy Holidays” complaining about that?
Seems to me the Santa bandwagon has taken Christ out of Christmas more than Happy Holidays.
Sharing with you a quote that should put it all in perspective. “If you want to put Christ back in Christmas – feed the hungry, comfort the afflicted, love the outcast, forgive the wrongdoer, inspire the hopeless.”
