Jim Metro, born Jim Metro Moreskonich in Nanty Glo, Pennsylvania on July 9, 1935, passed away at the Cheyenne VA Medical Center in Cheyenne, Wyo. on Jan. 11, 2024.  

Jim was the youngest of nine children born to Metro and Pauline Moreskonich.  He was 88 years old.  Jim attended college in Havre, Mont., where he met his wife, Margaret Gassert.  

Jim began his teaching career in Idaho Falls, Idaho then moved to Basin, Wyo.  He worked various jobs in the Big Horn Basin including teaching history at Basin High School. Later he worked at Dresser in Greybull.  

Jim had a love for the outdoors including fishing and hunting.  During retirement he kept himself busy with tying flies, visiting friends, and building storage sheds.  

Jim is survived by his son Tim (Janell) Metro of Basin; his daughter Tina Nelson of Cheyenne; his grandchildren Emilie (Josh) Reuter, Trent Metro, Sydney (Taylor) Dryden, Jessika (Ben) Heien, Megan Nelson, and great grandchildren Madelyn, Gage, True, and Oakley.  

He is preceded in death by his parents, his eight siblings, and his beautiful wife Maggie Metro.  

Cremation has taken place at Schrader Aragon & Jacoby Funeral Home in Cheyenne, Wyo.  No funeral services will be held; a private interment will be held at a later date.
