A new hometown café in Burlington is offering home-cooked meals and sweet treats.
Kelly’s Place officially opened its doors on Tuesday, June 8.
This is a dream come true for business owner Kelly Allen. She said every town needs a coffee shop where people can relax and enjoy a cup of coffee and homemade meals and sweets.
The café is situated on 215 South Main Street. Chris Davidson had purchased the building. Allen said Davidson had asked her husband, who owns the Bean Baron BBQ truck, if he wanted to use the building. However, Allen decided she wanted to open a café instead.
Allen said the first week of business went pretty well. She added the community gives a lot of support to small businesses.
“I’m still getting my feet wet,” she said.
Allen said she still has things to do, but acknowledges that with time, they will get done.
In regards to opening a café, Allen said, “It’s intense.” Prior to opening the café, Allen had worked in business administration for the school district in Meeteetse.
“This is a total change,” she said.
Allen serves breakfast and lunch. Due to it being only Allen, there will be two choices for meals. Her menu also includes homemade sweet rolls, donuts, soft serve ice cream and coffee.
The hours of operation for the café will be Tuesday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
