Lady Rebels eliminated in two at state
Two tough losses at the Class 1A Volleyball Championships in Casper knocked the Riverside Lady Rebels out of state play and killed their chance to claim a consecutive state volleyball title.
The Cokeville Lady Panthers captured the championship title, their 26th in school history. Little Snake River came in second after losing the final matchup in three sets.
Cokeville and Little Snake River were the first- and second-place winners, respectively, at the Class 1A West Regional the previous weekend where Riverside took fourth.
The Lady Rebels faced Upton, the No. 1 seed from the east, on Thursday and went down in four sets, 16-25, 25-12, 19-25, 13-25. Upton took home the third-place trophy after beating Southeast in Saturday’s penultimate matchup.
The Riverside netters saw a similar story on Friday. They snagged a set victory against Hulett but lost in four, 24-26, 25-19, 22-25, 20-25, and were eliminated.
