Lady Rebels fall, then rally in weekend split

The Lady Rebels split their weekend games, falling against Burlington, 60-29, on Friday night before routing Ten Sleep, 59-15, on Saturday.
“I think, in the end, it left us right were most people probably expected us to be at this point in our season,” said Coach Jason Mitchell, referring to his team’s stumbling block against Burlington. “We didn’t play well right from the start, but Burlington earned every bit of that score: they played harder, showed more commitment to rebounding, shot the ball better, and adjusted better to a physical basketball game.”
When reviewing their game with Ten Sleep, he had warm words for Varissa Olsen, who tied her career high for the second time in eight days, netting 14 points. It was also a similarly strong game for Johnna Clifford, who tied Olsen in scoring and led the team in both assists (3) and rebounds (13).
Looking ahead to a three-game weekend with no conference play, Mitchell added, “Hopefully we have time to work through some late-season adjustments. We still have to take care of business in the second half of our conference schedule, [but] then we get one more shot at Burlington at the end of the regular season.”
The Lady Rebels face Greybull and Shoshoni at home on Thursday and Friday, before hitting the road on Saturday to play Big Horn.
