Letter to the Editor: Hard work and quality linemen bring voltage regulator bank online

Dear Editor:

As I sit down to write this and finally catch my breath after the whirlwind of the past couple of weeks, I’m proud to share that the voltage regulator bank is built and now online.

The contractors who came in were truly top-tier—grade “A” linemen. Having been in this trade for over 20 years, I can say without hesitation they are some of the best I’ve worked with in a long time—seasoned, a little grizzled, and all the better for it. I was able to turn them loose with complete confidence. After completing the bank, they even suggested staying on while we brought the regulators online, knowing the risks involved. Regulators are among the most dangerous pieces of equipment in line work, and even a moment’s lapse in concentration or a step out of order can lead to a catastrophic failure. Thankfully, everything went exactly as planned, and the system is running smoothly—maybe even a little happier.

It’s been a stretch of sleepless nights and stressful days, but we made it through. I want to sincerely thank you all for your patience and understanding. Toward the end, there were a couple of tough days where even keeping morale up at home became a challenge. A few unkind comments started to wear on us, but I reminded my family: “The world goes on because of those who remain silent when they meet hostility in others.” — Rebbe Nachman.

Even so, just when it was needed most, someone would call my wife or stop by the shop with a kind word. That kindness meant more than I can put into words—it lifted us up and helped carry us through.

So truly, thank you. You are a fine group of people, and I’m proud to be part of—and to serve—this community.
