Letter to the Editor: If the rioters in Minnesota hadn’t interfered, they might still be alive

Dear editor:

I would like to respond to Tom Harrington’s letter to the editor.  Five-year-old Ramos was abandoned by his illegal immigrant father and his mother refused to open her door and take custody of him.  ICE did what it had to do to protect him.

Judge Blackwell made a ruling on Feb. 3, 2026.  Tom referenced it on Feb. 12, 2026. Tom did not mention that the ruling would probably be challenged.  Liberal activist judges have made numerous rulings that have been overturned on review.  So this ruling may stand and it may not.

I would also like to respond to Steve Helburn’s letter on Feb. 26, 2026.  I think it is awful that two citizens lost their lives in Minnesota, but you have to realize that they put themselves in the position they were in by choice.  We all know that you cannot interfere with law enforcement performing their duties. If those rioters had not been interfering with the law enforcement, their deaths would not have occurred. 

Yes, I called them rioters, not protesters. Legitimate protesters do not blow whistles, pound on pots and pans, throw rocks and bricks, break windows, spit on officers, destroy police vehicles (which are owned by American citizens), shoot fireworks at law enforcement or block traffic.

They should stay off the street and not interfere with my or your right to travel on them.
