Letter to the Editor: Researching the war in Iran
I decided to do some research on war and the situation in Iran.
The definition of war is “an intense, organized, armed conflict between nations, states or groups, often characterized by violence, destruction and high casualty rates and is typically used to achieve political, economic or territorial aims.”
The War Powers Resolution (1973) law requires the president to notify congress within 48 hours of deploying troops. It also limits troop engagement to 60-90 days without congressional authorization.
The reasons given for the war first were about human rights violations. Another stated reason was that Iran was close to having nuclear weapons. The same nuclear weapons that we were told we had blown up last June. Our own intelligence says they are not close to having nuclear weapons.
Here’s why: Obama and some allies crafted a deal that required Iran to ship out 98% of their nuclear stockpile. Prior to this, they had enough uranium to make over eight nuclear bombs
Iran also agreed to dismantle and remove two thirds of their centrifuges needed to increase the concentration of the uranium they had so it could be used to make nuclear weapons. They removed the calandria from its heavy reactor and filled it with concrete. Iran was also required to provide unprecedented access to its nuclear facilities and supply chain.
The International Atomic Energy Agency was tasked with insuring Iran’s compliance with the 2015 nuclear deal negotiated by Obama. They regularly checked and certified that the negotiated agreements were kept.
Then we bombed them, so it would be hard to guess how they feel about the agreement now.
The war for the nuclear stockpile destruction that Iran provably doesn’t have has cost the taxpayers an estimated $30-50 million. Due to rising gas prices and shipping costs on goods, the average household has been impacted economically.
It will also cost several billion to rebuild our bases that were bombed. Thirteen American lives have been lost and we have used over 50% of our munitions. There is an estimated 8,000 lives lost and 44,511 injured.
These are easily researchable facts. They are not fake news or liberal agenda or TDS. Those are just excuses made by people that are afraid of the truth because they will have to regret some of their thought processes and voting history.
Just because we might not like them doesn’t mean they aren’t true
If you think they aren’t true, I double dog dare you to be brave enough to look them up.
