Letter to the Editor: Useful Idiots
According to Merriam-Webster, the term “useful idiots” is “a derogatory political term for naive, ill-informed people manipulated into advancing a cause or agenda they do not fully understand. Often used to describe Westerners who supported the Soviet regime during the Cold War, it implies they were gullible, supporting propaganda while being used by foreign powers.” The March 28 demonstration was a textbook example of a modern incarnation of that term.
Our ‘democracy’ is not under assault, as the United States does not operate as a true democracy (thank God), but rather as a representative republic, and President Trump wants to ensure that only those who are truly entitled to vote in federal elections can do so; and not have those elections skewed by non-citizens voting, biased counting, nor by fraudulent votes via ballot stuffing, etc.
Regarding ICE operations: well, there were many under Obama; was he trying to be king? Lots of ICE raids have been and are performed with local law enforcement assistance and are very seldom violent, so they don’t make the news.
“Trump’s relation to the Epstein Files?” Really? The democrats had the files for four years under Biden, and if they had found anything they could even remotely hang on the president, it would receive non-stop coverage.
“Banned books?” C’mon. Would Ms. Greene actually want her 10-year-old daughter exposed to X-rated literature and imagery at public or school libraries? Ms. Greene can provide that at home if she wants, but keep it away from public institutions.
Ignorance (willful or otherwise), naiveté and manipulation were all on display that day; truly a demonstration of useful idiocy.
