Library’s summer reading program wraps for the summer
June, as always, has been a very busy month! We kicked off our summer reading program making crystals with a class full of eager kids. We ended our opening week with a special guest Darla Haller. She treated us to songs and stories. After, they constructed different instruments out of recycled material.
The foundation graciously paid for an amazing program with Do Art Productions presented by Jerry Moffitt. He captivated the VERY full class of kids with his humorous caricatures and exuberant personality!
Our wonderful volunteer Cindy Powers donated her time and knowledge for another wonderful stained-glass class. Our lucky patrons were instructed on how to create different nightlights.
Roxanna Harwood instructed a tween sip and paint that was standing room only. We treated the kids to fresh strawberry lemonade and cookies, courtesy of our Friends of the Library. We ended the week by painting with squirt guns. The kids really got into the activity and helped “color” an amazing banner to commemorate our awesome day!
For our final week, we tie-dyed with nearly 100 kids. WOW is all I can say about that adventure! Watching the kids’ creative and messy sides throughout the month has been a pleasure for all of us at the library. For our wrap party, Jake Shaw donated his time and hot dog cart. He grilled hot dogs for the community! The kids competed in obstacle races and cake walks. We ended with a “BANG” and had a chalk bomb battle that truly left our world with more color!
We want to thank our amazing Friends of the Library for their continual support! We couldn›t do it without you!
