Little League Update: Seniors lose to Thermop, drop to 1-3 on season

South Big Horn Little League’s minors, majors and seniors went a combined 3-2 last week in games against teams from Thermopolis and Powell.

SENIORS

The most seasoned group of players from the Greybull-Basin area formed a senior Little League team this year. The Bandits, on the young side for a level open to boys and girls ages 13 to 16, entered June with one win against three losses.

Their latest setback was a 10-3 loss to Thermopolis on May 27.

After three scoreless innings, Thermop broke the game open with a five-run fourth and cruised to the win, limiting the Bandits just a pair of hits.  Carter Dunlap was credited with one, Colt Collingwood the other.

Noah Blakley and Brendyn DeShazer handled the pitching chores for the Bandits.

MAJORS

The majors split a doubleheader with Powell on May 29, winning one of them 3-0 while dropping the other 15-1.

Starter Korbin Stewart and reliever Quaide Houchin limited Powell to just one hit while striking out 12 in the Bandits’ 3-0 victory, which was called after the top of the fifth.

Kingston Schedler delivered the decisive blow, with a two-run, second-inning home run that staked the Bandits to an early lead. Daniel Stamstad and Houchin were also credited with hits in the win.

Powell dominated the evening’s other game, scoring in every inning including a seven-spot in the fourth. Schedler and Kruson Keisel were the only Bandits credited with hits.

Bandit pitchers walked nine and surrendered nine hits in the four inning contest.

MINORS

The SBHLL’s two minors teams posted impressive wins over Powell on May 28.

Team Hernandez won 10-2, doing all its damage on just four hits.

Lane Collingwood finished with one hit and three runs batted in.  Henry Emmett, Buxston Shipley and Kai Landers also produced hits for the Bandits.

The Bandits got good pitching, as Jaxon Johnston, Levi Hernandez and Collingwood limited Powell to just two hits while striking out 10 in the four-inning contest.

Team Johnson, meanwhile, picked up an 11-1 win behind the pitching of Jace Davison, who worked three innings, and Conner DeShazer, who finished it with a solid fourth.

Leading the hit parade were Davison with two and Raelyn Johnson, Paxton Reiter, Michael Harding, Deklan Brown and Asher Lindgren, each with one.
