Loanda “Andi” Loretta Reid

February, 24, 1938 - February 8, 2024

Loanda “Andi” Loretta Reid (Gilpin) was born on Feb. 24, 1938, to Floyd Gilpin and Maude (Cramer) Gilpin in Port Angeles, Wash. Andi passed away at the age of 85, on Feb. 8, 2024, at the Wyoming Retirement Center, surrounded by her family.

Andi spent her childhood between Washington and California.

Andi married Garth Reid in 1956. Together they had six children: Penny (Leo) Miller of Buffalo, Wyo., Nolan (Dona) Reid of Juneau, Alaska, Carolyn (Fred) Sherburne of Basin, Wyo.,, Floyd Reid of Buffalo, Wyo.,, James Reid of Thermopolis, Wyo., and Tony Reid of Basin Wyo. They lived in Idaho, Washington, Alaska and Wyoming. They traveled together for both work and to be close to family, before divorcing. 

Andi moved to Wyoming in 1972, where she established her roots. 

Andi married Art Geertsen in 1975. They then divorced in the early ‘80s.

Andi spent most of her career working as a deli/bakery worker. She showed her love to others by sharing her homemade cookies, pies and other foods. She always welcomed her family into her kitchen, where she taught them her secrets to baking. The last 10 years she spent her time being a nanny to five of her great grandchildren.

Andi was an active member of the EAGLES Auxiliary in Basin. She was known for her delicious baking. Andi was also an active member of the Greybull Alliance Church. She enjoyed her years of service at their youth camp.

Andi enjoyed spending time with family and friends, camping, baking, and watching the family participate in sports and plays. 

Andi is preceded in death by her parents and son-in-law Leo.

Andi is survived by her brother, Denny Gilpin and niece Denise Gilpin. Along with several cousins. Andi welcomed several friends into her family. They went on adventures, camping, and had wonderful game nights.

Andi loved her 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter, with one more due in March.

A celebration of life will be held on May 11, 2024, at the First Baptist Church in Basin, Wyo. The services will be held at 11 a.m. Her end-of-life care is being handled by Haskell’s Funeral Home in Lovell, Wyo.
