Lorraine Blanche Cullison
Nov. 21, 1932 – Jan. 28, 2025
Lorraine Blanche Cullison went to her heavenly home on Jan. 28, 2025. Lorraine was looking forward to a joyful reunion with her husband, Bob, and other faithfully departed family and friends. She was 92 years old.
Lorraine was born in Worland, Wyo., on Nov. 21, 1932, the oldest of three girls born to Cal George and Erma Jane (Cozzens) Thomas. She grew up in Hyattville and the Big Horn Basin, receiving her elementary education in Hyattville and high school education in Basin. When Lorraine was 17 years old, she went to Billings, Mont., with Robert Franklin Cullison where he called Lorraine’s parents and invited them to come see their daughter get married. Bob was in the professional rodeo circuit and there was time for a wedding in between rodeos. The couple made their home in Hyattville, Wyo. Lorraine and Bob started a small post and pole business in Hyattville. In the winter when they were not traveling to Bob’s rodeos, they would go to the mountain and log their timber. Their business grew into a successful large timber business, Cowboy Timber Treating, which they ran for 36 years in Manderson, Wyo.
Lorraine and Bob always made time to take their girls and grandkids on fishing trips in the summer on the mountain and snowmobiling in the winter. They also made numerous memorable fishing trips to Alaska with grandkids in tow.
Lorraine was a strong businesswoman in a man’s world. She was smart, personable, organized and had a “do it now” attitude in everything she attempted. She was a deep-rooted historian and loved to visit with people one-on-one and showed a genuine interest in their story. She loved to host gatherings, large or small (maybe with just a little encouragement from Bob). Gardening and preserving that bounty were two of her favorite pastimes. Lorraine could make the most beautiful yard and garden in any soil no matter where they lived. Her all-time best friend was “Terry” the little Jack Russell Terrier. He was her constant companion around her house and yard. Lorraine always supported her grandchildren in all their activities and loved them unconditionally. Great-grandchildren were the apple of her eye. Her faith in Christ was very poignant, yet very private. She was a devout Christian woman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bob, and two daughters, Debra May and DeLinda Kay.
Survivors include her daughters, Roberta “Bobbie” Cullison of Manderson, Wyo., Cynthia Cullison-Boson (Charles) of Hyattville, Wyo.; grandchildren: Mandra Tharp of Manderson, Clinton Cullison of Ft. Collins, Colo., and Talon Tharp of Gillette, Wyo.; great-grandchildren, AzariAnna and Alton; sisters, JoJean DeHony of Cody, Wyo., Georgia Gay (Jerry) Tharp of Hyattville, Wyo.; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025, at the Bryant Funeral Home Chapel with Charles Wassum officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Worland Big Horn Enterprises.
