Mental health of producers is topic of AgWell seminar in Thermop

The Rocky Mountain Farmers Union will host an AgWell Summit Saturday, April 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hot Springs County Museum and Cultural Center in Thermopolis. AgWell is an initiative within RMFU focusing on farmer and rancher wellness, mental/behavioral health, and occupational stress reduction.

“We give producers and community members alike practical tools they can embrace on their operations; and in their personal lives, that can help them become more resilient,” said Carlyle Stewart, AgWell director with the RMFU.

Lunch will be served.  Attendees will hear from speakers working in the realm of rural behavioral health, including Melissa Cook, the community vitality and health extension education with the University of Wyoming Extension.

Stewart said the goal of this summit is to facilitate a space between farmers and ranchers to learn more about topics such as stress, suicide prevention and how to build protective factors.
